Commitment to Human Rights

Everoot Consulting is committed to upholding and respecting human rights as expressed in the International Bill of Human Rights, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights. Additionally, we acknowledge the principles concerning fundamental rights set out in the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. We recognize our responsibility to respect these human rights standards and strive to integrate this commitment into our business operations, decision-making processes, and interactions with all stakeholders in alignment with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Due Diligence and Precautionary Approach

In addition to our commitment to respecting human rights, we conduct a due diligence processes to identify, prevent, and address actual or potential human rights risks and impacts associated with our operations. This due diligence approach is aligned with our precautionary principle, enabling us to take proactive measures to avoid infringing on the human rights of others and to prevent or mitigate adverse human rights impacts, even in the absence of full certainty.

Stakeholder Prioritization

We prioritize our attention and engagement with several key stakeholders, recognizing their significance in shaping our human rights efforts. These stakeholders include:

  • Clients: Ensuring our services align with human rights principles and meet their needs ethically and responsibly.

  • Employees: Fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace that values and safeguards their rights. The policy is integrated into the employee onboarding process and remains an accessible resource for all employees through our internal knowledge base and intranet platforms for reference as needed.

  • Advisors: Engaging with advisors to seek guidance on best practices regarding human rights in business operations.

  • Non-profit Partners: Collaborating with non-profit partners to support human rights initiatives and maximize positive impacts.

  • Local Community Members: Engaging with local communities to understand their perspectives and address human rights concerns.

  • Sustainability Organizations: Collaborating with organizations committed to sustainability and ethical business practices to drive continuous improvement.

  • Environment: Acknowledging the importance of environmental stewardship and minimizing our environmental footprint in all operations.

Continuous Engagement

We engage in continuous dialogue and collaboration with these prioritized stakeholders to ensure that our business practices align with respect for human rights principles. The human rights policy is prominently available on our company website, ensuring stakeholders have direct access to our commitment to human rights and encouraging engagement in discussions and collaborations regarding human rights initiatives.

Addressing Adverse Human Rights Impacts

We are committed to addressing any adverse human rights impacts with which we are involved. Should our actions or operations result in adverse human rights impacts, we will take prompt and appropriate actions to mitigate such impacts and prevent future occurrences, in alignment with our commitment to respecting human rights. Even if we have not directly contributed to these impacts, we acknowledge our responsibility and commitment to taking necessary actions to prevent or mitigate such impacts.

Remediation Processes

In line with our commitment to human rights, Everoot Consulting has established dedicated processes enabling the remediation of any adverse human rights impacts that are determined to have been caused or contributed to by our work. These processes may include:

  • Determination of Adverse Impact: Upon notice of a potential adverse human rights impact from an outside source or internally, leadership  will establish a committee to investigate said matter, present their findings to our Board of Advisors and make a determination of impact.

  • Responsive Action: Upon a determination of adverse human rights impacts caused by our operations or contributions, Everoot will take appropriate action within our control to remediate that impact.

  • Engagement: As part of this remediation effort, we will engage with affected stakeholders and relevant parties to facilitate remediation efforts, seeking input and collaboration to address these impacts effectively.

  • Continuous Improvement: We continually review and enhance our remediation processes to ensure their effectiveness and responsiveness in addressing adverse human rights impacts.

Implementation

This policy, inclusive of the prioritization of key stakeholders and efforts to avoid infringing on human rights, serves as a framework for Everoot Consulting's commitment to respecting human rights. It is approved by senior management and communicated to employees, stakeholders, and partners through various channels. For employees, it is covered in employee onboarding and remains an accessible resource for reference. Stakeholders have access to the policy on our website. Regular review and updates ensure its alignment with our evolving commitment to human rights and stakeholder engagement.
